Hardware & Software Components and Licensure - EDT 6040 SEA
The components necessary for successful implementation of the ELMO TT02 Digital Presenter into our classrooms should be relatively simple. Each classroom at CRHS comes equipped with a computer or laptop which is hooked up to an LCD projector. Had this not been the case, requesting ELMOs for each classroom would have been ludicrous in my opinion. It would make no sense to request ELMOs without the basics of computers and projectors in place. Setting up an ELMO for basic use is akin to hooking up a DVD-player to a TV. Everything needed comes with the ELMO, including the Image Mate Software, which allows for video and audio recording with time lapse photography. The only additional item one may wish to purchase is an SD card. This would be useful for saving audio and video.
Still, even with all of the hardware and software included, implementation will be quite expensive. Funding can come directly from the district with additional supplements from Title 1 funds (depending on the school), technology grants, or even commercial grants from companies that invest in education such as Walmart or Target. Even so, this project is a very expensive project and as such, I would recommend it being done over a period of four years. In addition to expense, the other reason for the delay is that cost may significantly decrease or a newer technology may be developed. The following is the 4 year implementation schedule:
Each Classroom Contains the Following Existing Technology Hardware §Dell Latitude D800 Laptop §Dell LCD Projector §Whiteboard Software §Norton Antivirus – annual license per station, §Microsoft Windows – license purchased with each new computer §Microsoft Office – license purchased with each new computer
Implementation of Plan
Year 1
*A total of 33 ELMO TT02RX units will be issued. *A total of 33 ELMO Image Mate Software CDs will be installed – one to each teacher receiving an ELMO’s computer. The following people will attend an ELMO TT02RX Training Seminar offered through ELMO. §The school’s Technology Team (3 members) §Each Department Chair (8 members) All Special Education Teachers, Technology Teachers, and Department Chairs will be assigned an ELMO and will receive training provided by the school’s computer technician. The Department Chairs will be expected to share their ELMO units until their department has been issued individual ELMO units 21 Special Ed Teachers 8 Department Chair 4 Technology Teachers
Year 2
*A total of 33 ELMO TT02RX units will be issued. *A total of 33 ELMO Image Mate Software CDs will be installed – one to each teacher receiving an ELMO’s computer. All English and Math Teachers will be assigned an ELMO and will receive training provided by the school’s computer technician. 16 English 17 Math
Year 3
*A total of 31 ELMO TT02RX units will be issued. *A total of 31 ELMO Image Mate Software CDs will be installed – one to each teacher receiving an ELMO’s computer. All Science and Social Studies Teachers will be assigned an ELMO and will receive training provided by the school’s computer technician. 15 Science Teachers 16 Social Studies Teachers
Year 4
